Reason #2: A Dedicated Staff

In an earlier post, I talked about 5 Reasons We Chose a Virtual School.

An example of seeing Reason #2 in action was seeing “R” glow through the caring of one, special teacher.

To anyone who feels that teachers and students cannot build a connection in an online environment, I say “You couldn’t be more mistaken”!

Something very special happened for 10 year old “R” today.

Through our virtual charter school we have live lessons.  These lessons are anywhere from 30 – 60 minutes in length and take place in a virtual classroom.  The instructor uses whiteboards, powerpoints, webcams, etc to conduct the lesson.  The student interact through a chat pod or a microphone.

Our high school biology teacher is amazing!  He is so passionate about teaching and he keeps the kids excited. My 10th grader attends his live lessons every time he is able and his 5th grade sister also attends.  She can’t wait to be in his class.

Today, the 10th grader had to leave for work halfway through so he asked his instructor if his sister could stay. This was not a problem and it made “R” so happy.

“R” has blossomed in science this year and I believe it is largely due to this instructor.

This situation would never happen in a brick and mortar school.  I am blessed to be able to give my kiddos this wonderful opportunity.

God Bless 🙂
